"Death Rides " by Pam Marin-Kingsley, © 2006

Detail of Death's hand

Taking an inspiration from Colonial tombstones found in cemetaries in the area where the artist lives and combining it with her love of the macabre and horror stories... this image was born.

The quote on the grave stone is from: Reginald Heber, (1783-1826), an Anglican Bishop who served in Calcutta,India in the late early 19th century when India was still a British colonial holding.

The quotation is from the poem "At a Funeral. No. i"

"Death rides on every passing breeze,
He lurks in every flower."

This work is  an exploration of the darker side of our existence in an elegant, powerful graphic format.
